An Ammonia Detector is a powerful gas detection sensor that monitors the level of NH3 in air for safety and compliance purposes. NH3 gas is commonly used as a refrigerant in chemical production processes for fertilizers, plastics, and explosives. The strong-smelling gas can irritate skin, eyes, nose, and throat and cause respiratory failure in some individuals. Continuous monitoring of NH3 levels in the air can prevent dangerous leaks.

These include electrochemical, metal oxide, photoionization, and catalytic sensors, each with different levels of sensitivity, accuracy, response time, selectivity, environmental conditions, and maintenance requirements.

Most NH3 gas sensors are housed in an explosion-proof enclosure for safety. The detectors are equipped with a flow switch and manual shutoff for emergency shutdown. An FCS Multi Channel Controller with a top strobe and remote display can be added to monitor multiple detectors from one location.

Typical locations for Ammonia leak detection include loading racks, storage areas, and vaporizers. Detectors are typically located in the breathing zone at four to six feet above grade or a few feet above the leak sources for maximum safety. Depending on the specific hazard, alarms can be triggered to warn of a dangerous level, close solenoids, and/or trigger other desired outputs. A bump test can be performed periodically to ensure proper sensor operation and functionality.

Additionally, just over half of the dispensaries made health claims about specific medical conditions that could be treated with their products. Of those that did, only 18% included warnings about potential side effects or contraindications.
