Okay folks, Thanksgiving is over, and in my book that means it’s time for all things Christmas! By the end of this weekend, my house will be decorated in hues of red, green and gold. Christmas music will be playing on a daily basis, and sugar plums will be dancing in my boy’s heads. It also means it’s time to be thinking Christmas cards and what to wear for them. Traditionally, I head outdoors or to the studio and take a few pictures of the boys, but this year I thought it would be fun to focus on another tradition, decorating the Christmas tree! I know I can always turn to Gymboree for cute, high quality clothing that coordinates great for pictures of my boys. I decided on Gymboree’s pajamas for a nostalgic look to my images, and went with a plaid flannel that my oldest son picked out. He felt that they looked more mature, being that he and his brother are 12 and all. Now, normally, I do not suggest for everyone to match but to coordinate using 3 or 4 colors, but when wearing pajamas I think its 100% okay to match! This image would be way too distracting with too many different outfits.
In our house, the tree is typically put up as soon as we can after Thanksgiving Day. Each child, starting with the youngest, chooses a favorite ornament and places it anywhere on the tree. This year we started with Declan, who is about to turn 4. His Gymboree jammies made him look so big. He so thought he looked like his daddy in them! And, because they are high quality, I do not have to worry about the fabric irritating his sensitive skin.
Declan picked an airplane ornament this year as the very first one to go on the tree. That kid is ALL about modes of transportation this year. At least he made things easy on Santa this year, right?
Cayden, our soon to be 9 year old, thought his pjs from Gymboree were the softest jammies he has ever worn! This kid LOVES soft clothing, so he was truly impressed with Gymborees fabric choice. Cayden decided his favorite ornament was the one we picked up on our month long trip to Florida last year at the Kennedy Space Center.
Something to remember when picking out pajamas for a Christmas card, is to try and match it to any color schemes you may have going on. This would have looked pretty odd had I gone with another holiday color scheme other that reds, since our tree is decorated in reds and golds. If you use another color scheme for your Christmas decor, I am sure Gymboree has something for you!
Next up for ornament placement was Britton, one of our 12 year old twins. Sadly, he really dislikes that fact that he is 1 minute behind his brother in age. His favorite ornament this year was the nutcracker ornament given to him this year, during his first every Nutcracker ballet performance!
I know I can’t pull off too many more years of ALL the boys wearing matching pjs, but Britton agreed with his brother’s choice in pjs from Gymboree. He didn’t feel like a little kid in them at all, and was happy and comfortable wearing them. It didn’t hurt that his favorite color is red!
Last, but not least, was Alexander, who is very happy with the fact that he is the oldest, even if it is by only a minute. Alexander chose an ornament made of beautiful shells that we picked up in a souvenir shop along the beach in Florida last year. We try to pick up a Christmas ornament everywhere we travel, just in case your noticing a ongoing theme here.
Alexander is the genius behind our sleepwear choice this year. He very happily picked these out when I showed him the choices on Gymboree’s website. He wanted something that made him look older. I think he achieved that!
Well, we all agreed that the Plaid Pajama set from Gymboree are a huge hit! They are comfortably soft and warm, with hint of maturity for the older boys. The boys can’t wait to wear them to the Polar Express in December or for Christmas morning. Another plus to purchasing pj’s for your Christmas cards portraits! They can be worn again and again.
