Wetpour Maintenance
Wetpour Maintenance is a popular surfacing choice for playgrounds because of its durability, safety, and aesthetic appeal. However, as with any surface it needs to be properly maintained in order to keep it looking good and performing well. Here are a few steps that should be taken to ensure the wet pour surfacing stays in top condition.
Keeping the Surface Clean
The most important factor to consider when it comes to wetpour maintenance is ensuring that the soft surface stays free from leaves, pine needles, flowers and other debris as this can affect the porosity of the rubberised flooring. This can also allow moisture to build up within the small voids of the rubber which may lead to organic growth such as algae, moss and fungus. This will not only spoil the appearance of the surfacing but can be a potential health hazard for children using the area.
Another key factor in preventing the build-up of organic material is regular cleaning, usually carried out with a power wash. This will not only remove any organic debris but also help to prevent it from returning in the future. We recommend using a cleaning solution that has an ingredient in it to kill any organic growth and make sure to use the correct pressure settings to avoid damaging the wet pour surface.
If the wet pour surfacing does become damaged it can be repaired quickly and easily by using a rubber repair kit which contains the exact ratio of EPDM rubber granules and polyurethane resin. This is a much easier option than replacing the whole area and is a great way to save money without the need for any disruption.
